Tiny Blue Butterflies 45 x 39 cm (SOLD)

Claudia Petretti studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art under John Houston where she was awarded a First Class Degree. Since graduating in 1988 she has regularly exhibited in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, taking a couple of years out around 1996 when her son was born. Her paintings are a visual recording of the colours, patterns, textures and rhythms found in the views around us. They are not directly representational but instead evoke the atmosphere of a particular view, providing the viewer with a visual reminder of somewhere visited. Her garden views, often inhabited with butterflies and birds, are joyful interpretations of the vibrant colours and bold shapes of a warm summer’s day.

Portrait of Liz Lochead, featured on the cover of her collection of poems, Bagpipe Muzak.

Portrait of actors, Russell Hunter and Una Mclean.

Her work is currently held in the City Art Centre, Edinburgh and RSA Collections Edinburgh and Art UK
